SDS Hosts 12th Biennial O'Bayes Conference - December 2017

19 January 2018—The Department of Statistics and Data Sciences hosted the 12th biennial International Workshop on Objective Bayes Methodology from December 10 through December 13, 2017, with support from the National Science Foundation and the International Society of Bayesian Analysis

The principal objective of O’Bayes 17 was to facilitate the exchange of recent research developments in objective Bayes theory, methodology and applications, and related topics, to provide opportunities for new researchers, and to establish new collaborations and partnerships. Over 100 students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty travelled to The University of Texas at Austin to attend tutorials, talks, and discussions presented by 44 leaders in the field of objective Bayesian methodology.

O'Bayes is one of the longest running and preeminent meetings in Bayesian statistics, going beyond objective Bayes and covering topics like robust, default Bayesian analysis, reproducibility, variable selection, big data, and nonparametric Bayes.

Speakers and discussants for 2017 included: Anirban Bhattacharya, Tamara Broderick, Guido Consonni, Mathias Drton, Emily Fox, Peter Grunwald, Leo Held, Gonzalo García-Donato, Juhee Lee, Kate Lee, Yingbo Li, Steve MacEachern, Long Nguyuen, Andriy Norets, Nick Polson, Veronika Rockova, F.
