Congratulations to Giorgio Paulon and Dr. Abhra Sarkar (Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics and Data Sciences, College of Natural Sciences, The University of Texas at Austin) on their recent Mitchell Prize for their 2020 paper:

Bayesian Semiparametric Longitudinal Drift-Diffusion Mixed Models for Tone Learning in Adults.  Journal of the American Statistical Association ( by Giorgio Paulon, Fernando Llanos, Bharath Chandrasekaran, Abhra Sarkar

This prestigious prize recognizes a paper that describes how a Bayesian analysis has solved an important applied problem and is considered a top honor in applied statistics.  The Prize is jointly sponsored by the Section on Bayesian Statistical Science (SBSS) of the ASA, the International Society for Bayesian Analysis (ISBA), and the Mitchell Prize Founders’ Committee.

Impressively, this is Dr. Abhra Sarkar’s second Mitchell Prize, a feat accomplished by only a handful of others.

Giorgio, Abhra, and their co-authors will be honored at the 2022 ISBA World Meeting to be held in Montreal, Canada next summer.  They will share a $1000 prize.

Congratulations to Giorgio and Dr. Sarkar!
