SSI to Celebrate its 10th Anniversary!

SSI10

26 October 2016—May 2017 marks a huge milestone for the UT Department of Statistics and Data Sciences (SDS)—the 10th anniversary of the UT Summer Statistics Institute (SSI). Each year, the department hosts SSI, offering intensive four-day workshops on a variety of topics from introductory data sciences to advanced statistics. In the last nine years, SSI has taught a total of 206 courses with the outstanding attendance of 4,961 participants!

This year SSI will be offering three new and exciting courses:

  • Introduction to Meta-Analysis with Tasha Beretvas (Professor, Department of Educational Psychology): This workshop is designed to help students master the statistical techniques used to conduct quantitative meta-analyses.
  • Mathematical Statistics with Joel Nibert (Lecturer, Department of Mathematics): This course will address fundamental questions about the theory and practice of statistics.
  • Applied Hierarchical Modeling with Catherine Cubbin (Professor and Associate Dean of Research, School of Social Work): This applied, hands-on course provides an introduction to the basic concepts and applications of hierarchical linear models.

The 10th annual SSI will be held May 22-25, 2017. We look forward to seeing you there!
