Biography

Alessandro Rinaldo joined the Statistics and Data Sciences faculty in August 2023. Previously, he was a Dean's Chair Professor in the Department of Statistics and Data Science and the Associate Dean of Research in the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University, where he received in Ph.D. in Statistics in 2005. His research interests revolve around the theoretical properties of statistical and machine learning models for high-dimensional data in a variety of problems, including high-dimensional regression, time series, privacy, categorical data analysis, statistical network analysis, density-based clustering, topological and geometric data analysis, and change-point detection. An IMS fellow, he served on the editorial boards of the Annals of Statistics, the Journal of the American Statistical Association, and the Electronic Journal of Statistics.
