Biography
Cheasequah Blevins joined the Department of Statistics and Data Sciences in 2025. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that education is a liberating process—one that empowers individuals to think critically, creatively, and independently. Dr. Blevins brings an interdisciplinary background to her work as a statistics educator. She earned a Ph.D. in neuroscience from The University of Texas at Austin, where her research focused on how social isolation impacts learning and memory. Prior to graduate school, she spent a year in Barcelona on a Fulbright fellowship, studying the development of inner ear structures responsible for transducing sound signals to the brain. This foundation in basic neuroscience informs her interest in how people engage with information—how they interpret evidence, understand uncertainty, and ultimately learn to reason about data. Her goal is to help students develop skills in statistical thinking that will make them more confident and capable when analyzing data or encountering new information.
