Biography
Mevin Hooten joined The University of Texas at Austin in 2021 as a professor. His research is at the interface of Bayesian statistics, ML/AI, and statistical computing. He was elected fellow of the American Statistical Association in 2017 and received the distinguished achievement award from the ASA Section on Statistics and the Environment in 2022. He currently serves as associate editor for Biometrics, Environmetrics, and Journal of Agricultural, Biological, and Environmental Statistics. Professor Hooten has authored 4 books and more than 200 scientific publications in the areas of Bayesian and spatio-temporal statistics with applications in ecology, epidemiology, environmental science, and sports.
