Lauren Blondeau Receives Award from the Texas Center for Disability Studies
Lauren Blondeau, assistant professor of instruction for the Department of Statistics and Data Sciences, received the award for the Most Improved Accessibility in the Student Diversity Impact Training. She participated in an accessibility grant that was funded by the Actions for Community Transformation seed grant from the Provost for Diversity office.
The Student Diversity Impact Training was a five-week program designed by the Texas Center for Disability Studies for UT instructors. The goal of the course was to enable participants to create a more accessible learning environment in their own courses for students with disabilities. Participants worked through asynchronous content modules as well as participated in weekly live discussions about disability's impact in the classroom. Topics included disability law, intersectionality, and universal design for learning. Instructors left the training with tangible ways to facilitate learning for all students, especially those with disabilities, in their classes.
