Sally Ragsdale Honored with CNS Teaching Excellence Award

The College of Natural Sciences announced today that Assistant Professor of Instruction Sally Ragsdale is a 2018 recipient of the CNS Teaching Excellence Award. This award recognizes and honors the committed and innovative educators who help students learn a demanding curriculum and excel in the classroom. Sally will be honored at the Teaching Discovery Dinner on Thursday, September 20, 2018.

Sally is the course coordinator for SDS 328M Biostatics and teaches both SDS 328M and SDS 325H Honors Statistics. In 2014, she was co-PI on a Curriculum Innovation Grant that transformed SDS 328M into a flipped course with significant hands-on and lab learning opportunities. She also developed a course project requirement that students find meaningful as they progress through all the required steps to craft and answer their own research question. To complement her course development and provide additional support, Sally partnered with Dr. Kristin Harvey to create the Statistics Online Support (SOS) platform available to guide all students who have questions about identifying the appropriate statistical technique.
