Computation is transforming the process of scientific discovery as an increasing number of scientific endeavors utilize significant computational resources and data-driven science. The Certificate in Scientific Computation and Data Sciences (SCDS) is fulfilled with a series of computational, mathematical, and statistical coursework and culminates with an individual research project that employs computational methods to address a scientific inquiry. After completing five courses and gaining approval from our faculty committee, students will work under their chosen faculty supervisor on a semester-long research project and produce an original research paper.

See our Course Requirements page for the full list of approved courses.  Note that no transfer credits, "credit by examination," or "CR" coursework may be used to fulfill course requirements.
