About
The Directed Reading Program in Statistics and Data Sciences (DRP-SDS) is an initiative of the Department of Statistics and Data Sciences that pairs undergraduate students (mentees) with graduate students (mentors) for an independent, semester-long project. The program is designed to provide undergraduate students with exposure to research in statistics and data science, while offering graduate students valuable mentoring experience in their area of interest.
Mentors and their mentees will create an individualized plan tailored to their mutual interests. For example, this may involve reading a textbook or fundamental papers on a particular topic. In some cases, if an open research problem is discovered and the partnership is successful, the mentee and mentor may extend their collaboration beyond the DRP.
At the end of the semester, participants are encouraged to present their work at a poster session alongside other DRP-SDS teams.
Program start and end dates will be announced once the application opens each semester.
