Background Requirements
Undergraduate Students (Mentees)
The DRP-SDS program is intended for junior and senior undergraduate students with a background in statistics. Students do not need to be statistics majors or minors to apply. On the application form, applicants will be asked to list prior coursework in order to determine if they meet necessary prerequisites.
PhD Students (Mentors)
Applicants for mentor positions are required to have completed the first year of their PhD program in Statistics.
Participation Expectations

Undergraduate students who participate in the DRP-SDS program are doing so within a non-credit, volunteer capacity.
PhD Students (Mentors)
Selected mentors are required to regularly meet with their mentees for one-hour sessions each week. They should also plan to spend no more than two hours per week preparing the discussion materials. PhD students who participate in the DRP-SDS program are doing so within an unpaid, volunteer capacity.
